Guided Adventures
Scuba Diving Adventures Ambergris Caye, believe or not, is not the first choice of SCUBA diving devotees. For SCUBA think more of Turneffe Island, Light House Reef and the Blue Hole. But the Island offers easy access to some interesting dive spots. One of the more interesting is Palmeros Point, 12 miles north of the island. The reef starts off at 50 feet and then meanders through some small canyons before making a modest drop of 110 feet. This is described as one of the better dive spots close to Ambergris Caye and excellent for marine photography.
Other dive spots around Ambergris Caye include the Love Tunnel, so named because many people choose to get married underwater at this location. Divers launch from a canyon, and then glide to a cavern that has an opening in the roof that lets sunlight through. This is a drift dive that goes up to 80 feet underwater. Other dive spots of note in the area include Angle Flats, Eagle Ray Canyon and Cypress Garden.
Snorkeling Adventures Hol Chan Marine Reserve - Hands down the Hol Chan Marine Reserve is the most popular aquatic attraction for tourists on Ambergris Caye. The reserve covers almost 7 square miles, and is located on the south end of island. Because of its close proximity to shore, you can be snorkeling in a matter of minutes. Shark Ray Alley - Shark Ray Alley has been rated as one of the best animal dives in the Caribbean by Skin Diver Magazine. Barrier Reef & Lagoon - Because the Belize Barrier Reef sits so close to the island, you can be snorkeling or reef fishing in a matter of minutes. On the lagoon (east side) of the island, this is a perfect spot for flat fishing, and manatee sightings and sailing.
Fishing Adventures Fishing off Ambergris Caye is a thrill for many. Because we're so close to the barrier reef, you can be fishing in a matter of minutes. This is a great way to spend time with the boys. There are a variety of fishing adventures available, anything from deep sea fishing, reef fishing, flat fishing and fly fishing.
Sailing Adventures Sailing is an exciting way to relax and enjoy your vacation. There are a variety of sailing trips to choose from. Perhaps you will enjoy the day sail to Caye Caulker, with a stop at Shark Ray Alley. There is also the ful day manatee watch, snorkel and beach barbecue at Goff Caye. Don't miss the dinner sunset cruise, or simply a sunset cruise on either a houseboat or a catamaran with drinks and tapas. Sunset sails are a great way to end your vacation, on a special note.
Bacalar Chico Marine Reserve Bacalar Chico is located on northern Ambergris Caye. It is a longish trip, a little over an hour, but frequent stops for places of interest make this a worthwhile tour. Bacalar Chico is within the Belize Barrier reef Reserve System World Heritage Site established in 1996. On the way to Bacalar Chico the visitor will find excellent snorkeling spots along the way and even a nature reserve, Cayo Iguanu that is a nesting area for the red-brown egret and the roseate spoonbill. The ranger station at San Juan offers some small Maya mounds to explore and a nature trail. The tour includes motoring through the channel that the ancient Maya cut through what was then the southernmost tip of Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula, creating Ambergris Caye and making it an island separate from the Mexican mainland.
House Boat Party - Sail Around the Island SEA’s d Day is a 58’ “beach” house boat complete with two bathrooms, a full kitchen, air conditioned seating areas inside. The boat also has two outdoor decks with comfortable seating, a water slide, paddle boards, kayaks, fishing gear and water floaties. SEA’s d Day explores the pristine waters and white sandy beaches of the leeward side of the island on day trips, sunsets and dinner cruises.
Crocodile Encounter (ACES) American Crocodile Educational Sanctuary Chris Summers heads up the nocturnal crocodile encounter relocation program for the island. This is an nocturnal adventure, where Chris takes you around to the various areas, where juvenile crocodiles hang out. While searching for that glowing pair of eyes, he teaches you everything you need to know about crocodiles, their habitats, behavior patterns, and why they are important to the eco-system of Belize.
Marco Gonzales Mayan Site The Marcos Gonzales site, is situated on the island's south end, near Laguna de Boca Chica. These ruins, are currently still covered with dense jungle vegetation. They are estimated to be approximately 2,000 years old. It is believed that at its peak the ancient Maya civilization on Ambergris caye was about 20,000, Marco Gonzalez is one of 18 small Maya sites identified in the area. The site has seen significant re-construction, and it's definitely worth a visit, if you do not wish to travel to the mainland to see the more spectacular Mayan Ruins. The site is currently open, although there has been no maintenance to the wood walkways. So please walk with care, look but no touchy, and be sure to take mosquito spray. Updated: November 30, 2020
Ambergris Caye Beaches (Facing the Belize Barrier Reef) Everyone usually enjoys getting into the water on their vacation, but not all the beaches on Ambergris Caye (are what I would consider) nice relaxing clear beaches. Many of the beaches (on island), are getting hammered by the on slot of sargassum. Here are a few beaches (close to the property), that you might enjoy spending some time at. Beaches (that are kept clean from sargassum)
Boco del Rio Area - This is where all the beach bars are, and many of the beaches here are kept clean.
Ramon's Village - Open to the public, the beach chairs are reserved for guests staying at Ramon's Village.
Banyan Bay Resort - Open to the public, the beach chairs are reserved for guests staying at Banyan Bay Resort.
San Pedro Fitness Center (608-8032) Swimming Pool Everyone usually enjoys getting into the water on their vacation. San Pedro has a really nice public pool for families to enjoy. Admission is $10.BZD ($5.00 USD) for Adults, and $5.BZD ($2.50 USD) for Children. Gym Day Pass - Guests staying at Belize Budget Suites can purchase a day pass for $15.BZD ($7.50 USD) for the day. UPDATE: All prices still current, although the gym is closed at the moment due to Covid-19. Updated: November 30, 2020
Secret Beach (Leeward Side of the Island) As soon as you touch down on Ambergris Caye, you're going to hear about suggestions to go to Secret Beach. It's one of the most stunningly beautiful spots on the island. Secret Beach is approximately 9 miles North of the property, this means you need a golf cart in order to get there. It's about a 30-45 minute drive from the property to Secret Beach (depending on traffic). This will be a relaxing day in the sun. Find your chair, either on the beach or in the water. Kick back and enjoy some local food, drinks and just some good ole' island time.
Belize Parasail Plus (226-3866) https://www.facebook.com/belizeparasailing/ Our premier and namesake activity is parasailing–parasailing in Ambergris Caye is an amazingly peaceful experience with breathtaking views of the entire island. Belize Parasail Plus offers so many other experiences specifically catering to small groups. We can take you to several snorkeling sites, reef fishing, deep-sea fishing, or any combination–such as our beach BBQ which includes fishing, snorkeling, and a BBQ. Or, how about a champagne sunset cruise? Have something else in mind? We will make it happen–let us plan your custom charter on our pontoon boat. It’s your vacation, we’re just here to help you make memories.
Diablo Water Slide (226-2715) The El Diablo Aqua Park located at Caribbean Villas Resort just south of San Pedro Town on Ambergris Caye is the only waterpark of its kind on the island. A adjacent bar, also dubbed El Diablo Bar, and the aqua park are both open to the public daily. The Aqua Park has two zip lines, one from the tower that lets guests jump off into the warm turquoise Caribbean waters, and another that stretches over 300 feet to the shore. The park's slide lets guests gain a thrilling amount of speed before launching into the waters. Several inflatable climbing and jumping toys let guests lay out with the sea's movement or jump into the water. The El Diablo Bar has cabana and hanging lounge chairs and a shady deck for those wanting a quieter time. And the resort has a lounge and restaurant located on the beach. Hours vary by season. Admission is $10BZ, good all day.
Beach Bowling - Island Style Cozy Coconuts (previously known as "Island Time"), is a bar/restaurant on the water, and has a bowling alley set up on the beach. This is a very unique experience, that you will only find on a tropical island. The best time to go is on a calm day, with very little wind. The wind makes it hard for the pins to stay up. Kids really enjoy this activity.
Ice-Cream Shops
DandE’s Frozen Custard & Sorbet - Pescador Street (660-5966) The biggest question on everyone’s mind: What is frozen custard? Premium ice cream! The product is called custard because egg is one of many quality ingredients used to produce this unique type of ice cream. What sets DandE’s frozen desserts apart from all the rest. “Frozen custard is churned as it freezes, like old-fashioned, hand-cranked ice cream. The result is a creamy texture similar to soft butter. As a result of this process, frozen custard also weighs nearly twice as much as regular ice cream which is whipped with air. In the end, you get a denser, creamier product – so a pint, or 16 ounces, actually equals one pound.” Location - Pescador Street (aka Middle Street), San Pedro, Ambergris Caye, Belize Contact Information - Phone: 660-5966 Email dande@dande.bz

Belize Chocolate
Belize Chocolate Company (226-3015)https://www.facebook.com/BelizeChocolate/ Belize Chocolate Company is an award winning craft bean to bar chocolate making company based in Belize. We think we may be one of a kind in the world, as our 'factory' is directly on the beach on an island in Belize, where the Maya arguably created 'chocolate'. Another unique quality is that we make our chocolate in the country where the beans come from. Many other micro-batch companies import their beans from abroad. We use 100% Belizean ingredients: cacao beans from the Toledo District, sugar from Orange Walk. We make a signature 70% dark chocolate, called Kakaw and add other Belizean ingredients to make different bars - including orange, cacao nibs, chili, and nibs.

Ambergris Caye Nightlife - With Ambergris Caye being the number one tourist destination for Belize, it's noted for having continuous non-stop entertainment every single night. The beaches are lined with bars and restaurants, of your choosing. The nighlife scene in San Pedro though, has recently changed dramatically. This is principally due to some new municipal regulations regarding noise pollution. Most bars are now only allowed to stay open until midnight. A few bars can open until later if they are enclosed or have a permit to stay open after midnight, but this is mostly on special occasions. Since things have recently changed so much, it's not as obvious which bars in San Pedro are "happening" anymore.
