Sailing in Belize

SAILING IN BELIZE
The Belizean Coastline is
dotted with hundreds of small deserted islands.

Picture
Few experiences can compare to a delightful sail down the coastline of Belize.  Departing from Ambergris Caye, passengers will get to experience the second largest barrier reef in the world.
Sailing, is the perfect option, for anyone who has ever wanted to experience the many beautiful islands of Belize, in a full day of sun.  Cast off into the crystal clear, turquoise waters of the Caribbean.  Sailing along the Belize Barrier Reef, is a great way to enjoy a little fishing, snorkeling and diving, all at the same time.
Each catamaran is equipped with cabins, and restrooms, for your convenience.  Enjoy delicious meals are prepared onboard, while others are prepared on the beach, while you relax on a private island.  A sailing trip would not be complete, without being given the chance to enjoy a delicious variety of local fresh fish caught on your trip.
For the sailing enthusiast, enjoy the blue skies, gentle breezes, calm waters, underwater playgrounds, and hundreds of small isolated islands (known as Cayes), for day sailing ranging anywhere from 3 to 7 days.
There are three (3) Atolls off the coast of Belize (Turneffe, Lighthouse Reef and Glover Atoll), these make perfect choices for 3-4 day excursions.  Try your hand at fly fishing, snorkeling and diving.  Lighthouse Reef Atoll is the home to the famous Blue Hole.  You can either dive or snorkel this area.
The chain of islands one can choose to visit, are decorated with coconut palm trees and white sandy beaches.  The water is crystal clear and the coral and marine life is bountiful.  Birds and iguanas call many of the islands home.  Since the days of the pirates, the islands have been unihabited and are just now starting to be rediscovered by the more adventurous souls.
Shipwrecks and burried treasure are the history of the islands.  So if you are looking for a peace, tranquil adventure, then "Sailing the islands of Belize", is a great way to go.
DAY SAIL TO CAYE CAULKER
Enjoy either a Caye Caulker day trip, where you can snorkel and swim.  Imagine being caresses by the gentle breezes as you sail along the reef's edge.  Your first stop is at the Hold Chan Marine Reserve, where you will get to swim among tropical fish, sea turtles and marine life.  Snorkelers are delighted with the array of bright colored corals, making any picture album awe inspiring.
You then continue south to the popular underwater playground of Shark Ray Alley.  Here you will have a great time swimming with sharks and stingrays.  We then sail onto the small but quaint island of Caye Caulker for lunch.  After lunch you will have enough time to stroll along the sandy streets and window shop.  Gingerbread houses with hibiscus and periwinkle gardens make this place a must for pictures to take home.
After about two hours, it's time to get back on board and sail to Coral Gardens, where coral is abundant in beautiful displays.  Kick back and enjoy the rest of your day in the sun, as you head back to San Pedro.
SUNSET CATAMARAN SAILS
Another really enjoyable way to experience Belize is by taking a sunset sail.  There are many tour operators on island, that offer this excursion.  Hop on a catamaran, enjoy a few cocktails and appetizers, as you sail along the coast at sunset.  You will want to be sure to have your camera ready, for some breath taking views of the Caribbean horizon as the sun disappears into the distance.
CATAMARAN ISLAND HOPPING
Enjoy a three (3) to seven (7) day trip to any one of the three Atolls off the coast of Belize (Lighthouse Reef Atoll, Turneffe Atoll, & Glover's Atoll).
The Turneffe Islands, for sailing and camping, are just the adventure for some.  This island offers great snorkeling, flat fishing, and is popular for its wall diving with many divers.
The Lighthouse Reef Atoll, includes the famous Blue Hole, which is a fascination for many.  Also visit Half Moon Caye's Natural Monument to see the red-footed booby birds.
From there you can either sail to Glover's Reef Atoll, or onto any number of other islands to include:  Water Caye, Tobacco Caye, Goff Caye, English Caye, St. George's Caye, Caye Chapel, and Caye Caulker, where you can spend the night and listen to old pirate stories and legends of Belize.

The Adventure

Picture
If you don't see anything of interest on the list of tours, there is always private charters as an option.
Private charters can be customized, to create a trip according to what you are trying to achieve.  For some, they simply are looking for individual attention.  Others, want quality time with family and friends, without sharing a boat full of people they've only recently met.  Those with a true adventurous spirit, are looking to go beyond the limits, most tours will take you.
Private charters typically include the use of a the catamaran,  gasoline, an experience captain, a seasoned licensed guide and crew members, along with cold beverages (to include but not limited to:  water, sodas, and punch).
Charters will typically include most gear (to include: fishing gear, diving gear or snorkeling gear, depending on what you want to do).
Charters can be packaged as half day, full day or several days in a row.  When requesting charter past half day in duration, a menu plan will need to be discussed with your tour operator.  You have several options in this regard,.  A nice Belizean lunch can be prepared for you to eat on-board, or you may simply want a "packed lunch" prepared to eat on-board so you can continually fish, dive or snorkel.  Another option that many seem to enjoy, is beach BBQ's.  These are especially nice towards the end of day, when you can sink your feet into the sand and enjoy a campfire, and a cold beer.
Ask for more details about Private Charters, and a customized packaged can be put together just for you. Every charter offered is completely customized to the guests on board.
Families find that the togetherness aspects, along with the exclusivity of the private catamaran make this one of the best family vacations of all time. “Travel in style at your pace and go where you want to go…. Flexibility and freedom in comparison to other all-inclusive Belize Resorts…… Luxury and experience like no other……
Great for all ages” are some of the guest comments we have received, and why so many return for their family vacation year after year.
Discover uninhabited islands that dot the barrier reef, or visit fun islands with local beach bars. Shop at local markets and experience Belizean culture and dine on shore at one of the many authentic eateries, meet the locals on remote islands, or indulge in a luxurious spa day at one of the boutique retreats that dot the coast…. you pick the pace!
Enjoy world-class snorkeling directly from your yacht with the expertise and local knowledge from your captain and guide. Swim with sting rays & nurse sharks at Hol Chan Marine Reserve, or go on a reef & marine eco-tour in Caye Caulker. We explore manatee reserves by kayak, spot dolphins from the bow, and amaze at the prolific birdlife from paddle boards while working up an appetite for the nights catch.
Every day we set sail we troll for our catch of the day, which can include king mackerel, cobia, bonito tuna and snapper, which is whimsically prepared by your chef and 1st mate. For the enthusiasts, we can make arrangements (for an extra charge) for fly fishing, reef fishing or deep sea fishing. Our captains also carry spear guns on board for an opportune moment to spear a lobster or snapper to add to the pot!
Diving can be arranged throughout the country using the best dive shops with 5 star industry ratings. From certifications courses, to refresher dives, to excursions to the great Blue Hole, we can arrange it all as part of your Belize sailing itinerary.
Whether you want to climb grand Mayan temples, canoe down river through the exotic jungle, clamber through the largest cave network in Central America or be pampered in an award winning spa, we can tailor make it all as part of your sailing vacation.
If relaxation is the top of your hit list you will have all the right opportunities – sun on the trampolines or relax under the shade of the expansive bimini, enjoy cocktails and dine on deck under the stars in quiet anchorages, practice yoga on the bow at sunrise or float in azure waters of the Caribbean, the tempo is yours. We can also arrange for a private masseuse to visit the boat for custom spa treatments (anchorage dependent).
