Travel Insurance
We strongly recommend "trip cancellation insurance" to protect you against airline delays, strikes, political unrest, acts of god, to include hurricanes, medical emergencies, epidemics, travel delays and baggage protection, which are not included in your room rate.
HURRICANE SEASON Please be advised that hurricane season starts in May (of each year), and continues through to October. If you plan on vacationing to the island (during this time period), we highly recommend trip insurance. In the event of a hurricane, your trip may be cut short due to island evacuations. Without trip insurance, these monetary losses in rooming accommodations and any change fees charged by the various airlines to reschedule flights, may be at your expense.
SEVERE OR INCREMENTAL WEATHER The best time of year to travel to Belize is November to April. This also corresponds to winter months in the Northern Continents. Sometimes airline schedules can become delayed due to incremental weather. You may find yourself in a layover situation in either Houston, Dallas or Miami. Without trip insurance, these layover fees will typically be at your expense.
MEDICAL EMERGENCIES No one can foresee the future. Traveling to a foreign country, can present challenges in of itself. In the event of a medical emergency, you may want to check with your current health insurance provider, to see if any medical services are covered. If you incur a medical emergency while traveling to Belize, your present insurance may not cover medical evacuation. If your insurance does not cover this, you may want to consider trip insurance.
